FeedBurner the Chicago based company that has a stronghold on the RSS feed industry launched an ad network today to be delivered within RSS feeds as mentioned in today’s FeedBurner press release. According to the release, the initial network launch included:
“...publishers across business and consumer publications, newspapers, marketing and technology sites, and popular bloggers.”
Some of the most prominent companies that launched today include online properties such as PC World, CIO, and Computerworld, the blog networks Corante, Ars Technica and Gawker Media. Additionally the high-profile blogs BuzzMachine, the Daily Kos, Talking Points Memo and TPMCafe all launched the new feed ad network.
I think this is an excellent move by FeedBurner, and they have got something good in the newly created ad network. There truly is nothing else in the industry that is comparable to this network with the same accurate ad targeting capabilities. Kanoodle and Google currently offer ads within a feed however neither offerings appear to have mastered a solid targeted ad solution for RSS feeds. Therefore, I think there is definitely a need that is being met by FeedBurner with its new RSS feed ad network.
