I just stumbled upon a blog tracking website called BlogsNow when I spotted a referring link coming from the site. BlogsNow was created by Andreas Wacker back in May 2005 and says to be tracking over 22 million weblogs. According to the site BlogsNow:
"Every sixty seconds BlogsNow generates a new list of topics. Reflecting what weblogs are talking about right now. BlogsNow will show you trends and breaking news faster than any other tool."
In my first visits to BlogsNow it appeared my browser got hung-up while loading the page but it quickly honestly have been caused by my computer and not the site itself. My recent visits to the site showed no similar issues. It appears BlogsNow tracks topics but also tracks the number of links to those posts. I think BlogsNow offers utility as a quick snapshot of recent blog posts which could help bloggers spark new blog post ideas but I think if BlogsNow offered several different views of this data by categorizing the posts or added some kind of visual for each site next to a topic it could help to add stickiness to the sites use.
