Breadcrumb Product Launch Strategy: Visit Blogs

Frank Gruber

BreadI just read a post on Jason Hallett’s blog in reference to launching a new product and visiting blogs  and I echo what he is saying. In his post he eludes to launching new products by visiting blogs since so many bloggers are hyper-sensitive to their blog metrics and statistics that when they see a referring link that is new them they often react. The reaction is usually to first check the new referring link out and if it is a new product, service or other point of interest to the blogger the result is usually either a positive or negative response via a blog post. I have done it myself and I have seen it done numerous times in the blogosphere has Josh highlighted.

I also have received emails via Somewhat Frank about new products and services about to launch and I appreciate the information however this referring link/breadcrumb method may be a better way to catch a bloggers attention then sending an email which can sometimes get lost in the shuffle. Additionally, linkage could be another way to grab a bloggers attention. For example, if someone launched a new product or service and linked to Somewhat Frank in their corporate blog as either a blogroll or other mention I would definitely see the linkage and investigate.

So as Josh identified so brilliantly if you are in the online environment looking to launch a new site, product or service, you might want to think about leveraging the strength of the blogosphere and its bloggers by just visiting blogs. It it is like dropping a breadcrumb or a hint to a blogger and then let the bloggers decide if it is blog worthy and let them do the rest.
