The latest Google news was uncovered in an investors presentation by Greg Linden which highlighted Google's plans to create a new GDrive. The GDrive will enable users to save anything and everything that they would like to on a drive similar to a network drive. I think it is time to start realizing the movement online could encompass everything we currently are accustom to saving on our home computers. This includes out operating system, all of our productivity tools and all off our files.
Nothing has been confirmed officially by Google yet, however the buzz in the blogosphere is building in posts on Google Blogoscoping, Search Engine Watch Blog and ZefHemel.com while TechCrunch points to a short called Epic 2015 which has entertaining and somewhat scary predictions. Additionally, I found these GDrive posts on LibraryPlanet.com and Microcontent News from last year (May 11, 2005). So apparently the idea of a GDrive has been floating around the blogosphere for at least 10 months.
