Clipperz An Online Password Manager

Frank Gruber

Clipperz.com We all know that remembering passwords can be a real pain, but Clipperz is an online password management site that tries to remove the pain associated with remembering online passwords. Clipperz enables users a repository for all your online password information.

Clipperz offers a bookmarklet that makes quickly saving login information into "cards." The bookmarklet enables users to login directly to any saved account. Clipperz also offers users the ability to download an offline version of password information. In addition, Clipperz is working on making the sharing, printing and exporting secure information an easy process. For an another perspective on Clipperz check this recent review by CenterNetworks.

Clipperz Direct Login Screen-shot
Interestingly, Clipperz uses passphrases rather than passwords to login into the site. Unfortunately, if you forget your passphrase Clipperz will not send you a reminder to help you get back into your account - you are pretty much out of luck! This could be problematic but it makes some sense since high-jacking a Clipperz account could lead to a hacker gaining control of a number of other site as well.

Bottom-line: Clipperz makes it easier to manage all your password information from one place.

Frank,
thanks for your very kind review of Clipperz.

As you correctly said, we are going to introduce sharing capabilities and this could be also a solution to the problem of forgetting your Clipperz passphrase.

How? Just configure a sharing policy like this one "share my passphrase with this other Clipperz user if I do not login to my account for 2 weeks".

Sharing will be possibile both for single cards and the general passphrase.

This will be possible in future releases, but quite soon we will release an "export" feature that could provide another safety net to forgetting the Clipperz passphrase.

Thanks again,

Hello,
PassPack (https://www.passpack.com) is another valid option. We were born in and around the same time, both in Italy. we have slightly different approaches to the same problem. Clipperz targets a more experienced user, while PassPack tries to make it as easy as possible to keep your stuff safe and organized.

We're trying to deal with lost pass phrases in a way that would avoid hijacking. Essentially, if you change your pass phrase, then forget it, we can roll you back to a previous version so all will not be lost.

We're also working on a bookmarklet that should be quite a bit easier to use and more flexible that what's already available. The demo is here, and if you'd like I can let you into the Beta Testing to have a go at it:

Please have a look and let me know what you think.
