Ping.fm Posts To All Your Microblogs At Once

Ping.fm Microblogging has made it easy to share but with a number of services available one can get overloaded with options making it difficult to keep them all updating the time. Rather than have to stick to one service you can post to a number of services at one time with the help of Ping.fm. Other services like socialthing! and HelloTxt offer similar functionality but I thought it was worth mentioning yet another service as we all look for the ultimate one stop shop for managing all our microblogging needs at once.

Ping.fm is as Tulsa, Oklahoma based startup that was created with the sole purpose of making it easier to post your microblog messages across multiple product channels (Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, Pownce) all at once thus removing the need to manually post to each one. While there is always room for another service to put a different spin on solving a problem, in this case enabling simultaneous microblogging, but in this space it has turned into a bit of an industry inside joke as parody services like FriendFeedFeed.com have launched promising to aggregate all the aggregators. It will be interesting to see which services can survive.

To test the ping servers I’ ve been sending each of them an XML- RPC ping every ten minutes, delivered from a random test server (from a pool of about 10) connected to the internet via one of three or four Tier 1 carriers. If ever a ping test should fail, I send another ping within a few seconds from a different monitoring server that is connected to the internet via a different Tier 1 carrier. This way I can rule out any hardware or connectivity- related issues at my end, and get more accurate results from...
