Last night at SXSW in Austin, Texas I waited in line for about an hour to get into the 16 Bit event at Scoot Inn. After nearly getting to the front door, I ran into Gary Vaynerchuk from Wine Library TV. Gary was fed up of waiting in line and jumped out and proposed we head to our hotel and drink some wine he brought in. I thought it was a super idea. So I jumped on a pedicab with Kristen Nicole from Mashable and Brian Solis from Bub.blicio.us. What happened next was epic...
Originally, we were going to have a little wine tasting for about 10 people in my hotel room. But I thought it might be a little crammed into one hotel room so I talked to the front desk and asked for a side banquet room for a few hours for a wine tasting. They were very accomodating and led me to a room near the elevators. It would be perfect. So Nate Westheimer, Eric Kastner, AJ Vaynerchuk and company brought down the wine. What happened next was epic and might go down in SXSWi history and lore for years to come as the message got out over twitter and within 20 minutes around 300 people joined the us. It was pretty ridiculous and a blast. Garret Camp, founder of StumbleUpon, was also part of the initial crew. CNet's Caroline McCarthy attended and covered the event on The Social. Nate Westheimer also weighed in on the epic event. Bub.blicio.us also posted some coverage.and photos.
Check out this quick SOMEWHAT FRANK TV episode featuring Gary Vaynerchuk explaining the epic wine event.

300 people could drink quite a bit of wine. Sounds like a good time. :)
