It has been a busy but productive week at the office this week. My group (KC Walsh and I) orchestrated producer training in Chicago which consisted of gathering our online producers from just about every market at Tribune Interactive (TI) for a few days of training. Here are a few of the sites that had producers attending the training sessions in Chicago:
Chicago Tribune
LA Times
NY Newsday
Orlando Sentinel
Baltimore Sun
Virginia Gazette
Greenwich Times
Stamford Advocate
South Florida Sun Sentinel
Hartford Courant
Allentown Morning Call
Hampton Roads Daily Press
Hola Hoy (Spanish site)
Metromix (Chicago)
7 Cities (HR)
Calendar Live (LA)
South Florida
Orlando Citybeat
Merge Digital (Allentown)
Chicago Sports
The training sessions covered everything from new technology offerings, to search engine optimization to design principles. Monday night we took all of the attendees to Wrigley Field to the skybox and check out the view in the image to the right. The Chicago Cubs picked up the victory over the SF Giants in the bottom of the ninth. Tuesday morning I presented with my colleague Mike Cieri on “Developing on Tribune Interactive’s Platform”. Additionally, I spoke solo on tips and tricks in using our asset repository StarTeam which you can read more about on Borland’s Case Study on Tribune's usage here. I also used a previous blog post How To Promote Your Blog from Somewhat Frank to create a presentation on “Tips On How To Promote Your Blogs”. Finally, I spoke briefly on H# Tagging in relation to SEO.
Overall, the sessions seemed to be very well received. After months of preparation and coordination between the markets, technology, marketing and business development, I was happy to see it go so smoothly. It was rather enjoyable for me to meet with all of the producers who I have worked with so frequently for over three years.
