The buzz about the Flock “social web browser” has been going for quite sometime in the blogosphere. Flock beta is now ready for download. To find out more about the Flock browser please refer to my previous Flock Somewhat Frank post.
I just downloaded the developers preview of Flock and went through the 13 things you need to know about Flock.
I thought that the feed cache option was interesting. It basically,
makes your browser into a feed reader for any regular website you visit
upon clicking the "star" icon. I also thought the blogging tool
integration was interesting and even tested it by writing this post
using Flock. I thought it was pretty easy to use however, would have
liked a spell check feature on the tool since spelling is not one of my
strengths. Though, I also want to test out the "Blog This" functionality
that allows you to be on a story on a website, right click and blog
about it via the Flock blog tools. Also, how do you send trackbacks and
pings via this Flock blog tool? Upon searching through the options I found where you can configure trackback. However, I do not see where you can set categories for your posts. My
next post will test that out. Overall, I found the browser very
innovative but still need to play with it more to get comfortable with
all of its features.
