Dateline NBC appears to have tapping into the blogosphere in a piece run last night reporting on the most blogged about topics from the week. Additionally, this report on MSNBC discusses how Dateline tapped into Intelliseek's BlogPulse a site which offers trend search and featured trend functionality.
I think that this is a wonderful strategy by NBC since the blogosphere is a wonderful way to measure topic interest. Not to mention, sometimes topics that are widely discussed in the blogosphere appear weeks before they do in mainstream media. In short, the blogosphere is a wonderful gauge of interest, trends and breaking news. I feel it is only a matter of time until other mainstream media companies adopt similar practices to further promote blog content on various topics as a way to accent the mainstream media content.
