I recently listened to a Ruby on Rails Podcast interview recorded at SXSWi (March 12, 2006) of Shaun Inman the creator of Mint. I had never heard of Mint before so I spent my time listening for clues to answer my puzzlement.
What is Mint? It turns out Mint is a site metrics package. According to its tagline Mint offers:
"A fresh look at your site."
It costs $30 per site to set up and gives you loads of metrics via an intuitive interface built on the Ruby on Rails platform with PHP. Interestingly, Mint integrates blog comments and FeedBurner metrics among other things.
I have not rushed to implement Mint quite yet but Paul Stamatiou, the sharp Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket, has lent a helping hand with his Mint Open House which allows you to view Paul's actual metrics via Mint in real-time. Thanks Paul. This really allows you to get a first hand look at what Mint can do.
