AdaptiveBlue, a startup that focuses on a smarter browsing experience, had just made its SmartLinks easier to use by making automated. SmartLinks offer site owners the ability to link to a widget that when clicked displays related items (i.e. books, music, people, etc). SmartLinks offer site owners the ability to add utility and the social dimension to links within the site.
In highlighting AdaptiveBlue SmartLinks previously, I stated:
"My only concern with SmartLinks is the time it would take a publisher to add them to their content, since it currently is a very manual process. AdaptiveBlue might address this in a similar fashion to "Auto BlueMarking" by integrating a simple rules system into existing publishing platform thus removing the extra work which could be considered a barrier of entry."
It looks like AdaptiveBlue has heard me and took action by making SmartLinks even smarter! Smartlinks now analyzes the selected content and presents a series of related actions simply by clicking the small SmartLink icon next to the link. This could come in handy for site owners or bloggers when writing about a movie, DVD or book and a SmartLink is inserted automatically next to the link providing additional links to sites and services. Here are some examples of SmartLinks in action.
