Do you travel a lot? If you do you might be getting tired for having to keep all your friends and family up to speed with where you are headed next or where you have just been. In steps Dopplr, a Finland-based startup which aims to make it easy for frequent travelers to broadcast where their travel plans. Named appropriately after the Doppler radar system, Dopplr makes it easy to share your travel plans so people can follow your travel radar.
Built with Ruby on Rails, Dopplr offers a few different ways to share and distribute your aggregated travel plans with your friends and family. First, Dopplr offers a destination site that you can add contracts and followers. Second, Dopplr offers badges to display on your blog or website.
Third, Dopplr extends its people tracking features to another social circle with a Facebook application that displays where a travel is headed next and allows users to find additional contacts.
Dopplr's Matt Biddulph recently spoke at the Future of Web Apps conference in London - check out the slides from the presentation. Also you can stay up to speed with Dopplr itself by following the Dopplr blog. Finally, Dopplr recently received funding from Varsavsky, Ito, Hoffman and Klein.
