Video Value, a music recommendation site, offers up music video suggestions that you might like. Video Valve gets smarter as you play and rate additional videos. Though Video Valve's low profile layout and branding resembles that of a startup when in reality it is a Viacom product.
Users can enter their favorite artists and Video Valve automatically
pulls together a personalized playlist. Users can tweak a
playlist with the freshness
and popularity controls to pinpoint the perfect music mix. Popularity is based on how many people watch and rate an artists or music videos while freshness is based on when a music video was released. Users can also tag the videos to further interact and categorize the content.
Though I find Video Valve to be an interesting little site I wish it offered some other hooks to make it a little more applicable to my current music habits. I cannot see myself coming back to Video Valve time and time again so I would definitely see value in Video Valve offering RSS feeds and widgets of my personalized playlist similar to the player widgets offered by JiwaMusic and Seeqpod. Also the ability to upload a personalized playlist directly into iTunes as a mix would be pretty rad and useful. In the meantime, I will just visit Video Valve to discover new music that I might like as it definitely proved its value in recommending new artists and tracks.
