Everyday just about everyone asks the same few questions as they prepare for another day. What is the weather like outside? And, what should I wear? Now thanks to crowd-sourcing and the power of the Web you can get some help with these questions. Cumul.us is a web site that aggregates the opinions of the masses to display weather predictions and what people are going to wear as a result. Brilliant!
Cumul.us was created by Ben Tesch as he explains in his blog post titled, " The Wisdom of the Clouds" it offers three main components which are as follows:
- combine as many possible sources of weather forecasts as possible since no one source is ever right all the time
- you can predict the weather yourself and you will get a score based on how right you were
- give you information on the real reason you check the weather: to find out what you should wear as it asks then aggregates what people say they are wearing
I think Cumul.us is a novel idea, especially since even your local meteorologist can so often be wrong. Why not aggregate the knowledge of a bunch of weather sources and the masses?
