Are you ever on the go and in need of answer? I often find myself in need of an answer the minute I step away from the computer and therefore cannot look it up. While having an iPhone has often remedied the problem, AskMeNow may be another possible solution. AskMeNow, an Irvine, California-based startup, is a mobile service for anyone with questions and looking for answers while on the go.
While there are a number of Q&A sites like Yedda and Yahoo Answers that take the traditional online community approach AskMeNow offers a mobile Q&A site that leverages algorithms (or millions of elves) for answers. AskMeNow enables users to ask virtually any question and receive an answer in return. I was pretty impressed with AskMeNow. I simply activated the service by text messaging a question to 27563 which spells out ASKME. I asked a random question about my favorite baseball team the Chicago Cubs. I asked:
When did the Chicago Cubs last win the World Series?
AskMeNow did not let me down as it replied with the correct date of 1908.
Aside from answering specific questions, AskMeNow also offers up simple shortcuts which return responses. For example, if you are looking for a new joke you can simply text the ASKME the word 'joke' and receive a funny joke in return. Check out the rest of the shortcuts. Users can also subscribe to AlertMeNow which delivers alerts on a bunch of categories.
AskMeNow should help you to find answers while on the go. It is FREE so give it a whirl, it may come in handy. AskMeNow will be showing off its stuff at the Twiistup 3 event tomorrow in LA.
