Creating flashy multimedia pieces of content for the Web might have just gotten a little easier as Sprout Builder opened its doors to the public today. This Hawaii-based startup first popped up on my radar at DEMO 08 as they first reveled Sprout Builder. The Flash toolkit makes it easy for anyone to create a rich interactive page, widget or part of a page without knowing how to write a line of code.
At DEMO, Sprout showed off the work they had done by partnering with musician Ben Harper for Sproat widget (shown below).
Users are given a rich interface for creating widget or full pages of flash content. The interface reminds me of Adobe Photoshop. Users can create items from a blank template of by leveraging some of the pre-configured templates. I just created the widget below in a few minutes.
Tools like Sprout Builder could really change the way that Web pages look and act as it empowers anyone to create Flash-based sites and widgets. I got a chance to chat with Sprout CEO and founder Carnet Williams (as shown below). Sorry, the video is a little bit herky-jerky as it was shot with a video camera strapped to my head. Watch it on the go by subscribing via SOMEWHAT FRANK TV.
