Setting your status message on a social networking application has become fairly standard but keeping all of your status updates flowing through all your social networks can be somewhat tricky and time consuming. I previously wrote about twitterfeed which I use to send some of my updates from Flickr and SOMEWHAT FRANK directly to Twitter. I also wrote about Matt which helps to post single status updates to multiple twitter accounts. But I just found out about a new way to leverage AIM instant messenger to set my status on Twitter.
I just installed a new AIM plugin called Twitter Man which makes updating my Twitter status a breeze from the AIM desktop client. But you must be aware that your AIM away message can cause some problems as it might set itself while your computer idles thus sending messages to Twitter that you are "away from your computer" which is kind of annoying. Also you have to be using a PC and the latest version of AIM. I also installed the Twitter Facebook application
which then updates my Facebook status via my Twitter update. Basically, I can now update my status from AIM and it sets the same message on Twitter
and Facebook. SocialThing
makes it easy to do a similar update of multiple social networks from
one place but hasn't added AIM status to the mix just yet.
Those of you out there that keep all your status updates flowing, I am wondering:
How do you set your status updates?
Let me know your SOMEWHAT FRANK perspective in the comments section (below).
