TechCrunch 9 & A Funny "Suit"?
I was in attendance
for the event on Friday evening at August Capital in Menlo Park and had a great time. There were loads of interesting web 2.0-fabulous guests in attendance. Thanks to Mike Arrington, Heather Harde and the rest of the TechCrunch crew for a wonderful evening. The guest (who I won't name publicly) wearing the "Suits Suck" tee shirt (shown above) said he was a
Google employee in the marketing department and made me laugh. As I sipped on some Stormhoek white wine, he asked me and Nick Gonzalez, also a TechCrunch contributor, "what Mike Arrington looks like?" because he
was looking to connect with him at the party. After both Nick and I took our best cracks at explaining what Mike Arrington looks like he left us to continue on his mission. So let me re-cap, the guy shows up
wearing a colorful "Suits Suck" tee, works at Google in the marketing
department, attends the TechCrunch party looking to connect with Mike Arrington but
doesn't know what he looks like. Doh! Solid strategy, I wonder if he is a "suit" himself in disguise? You be the judge. ;)

FeedBurner, the Chicago-based feed management startup that was recently acquired by Google, has decided to offer its Pro services for free. Users can now get all the Pro stats and services for free. FeedBurner's official announcement was posted earlier this morning calling itself "FreeBurner."
I assume the shift to free Pro services was made because Google doesn't really need the $5 per year that FeedBurner was charging for Pro services. In addition, Google probably is better suited to handle beefing up the servers and bandwidth if they get an influx of Pro users. Whatever the reason, thank you FeedBurner & Google - be sure to activate these new features as soon as you can to make sure you are maximizing your FeedBurner benefits.

iPhone Mania Turns To AT&T Activation Hell
The iPhone caused quite a stir and it appears Apple handled demands very well as it was almost too easy to get the iPhone in several locations. I was able to pick one up with no wait. However, since acquiring the iPhone I have yet to get it activated. It seems I am not the only one. Thus far it has taken over four hours, 2 phone calls to AT&T and one trip to an actual AT&T store. I am hoping tomorrow I will be able to get my iPhone activated but it will take at least one more call to AT&T support to help me transfer my number from my current service provider. Bummer. :-S

Congrats to Chicago-based feed management and advertising company FeedBurner for getting acquired by Google. The rumor that started a few weeks ago has been confirmed by FeedBurner today (June 1, 2007). There are more details on Google/FeedBurner deal here. In addition, they are just a great group of people.
Being from Chicago, and I have the opportunity to get to know FeedBurner and just about all of their 30+ employees through either work or play in the last few years. Tired of having to go open a number of browser windows to perform a search across a number of search engines? Sputtr wants to make it easier by putting search engine results to your favorite search engines in one page and just one click away from results. As it's name implies, you don't need to sputter to perform several searches from various sites. I know what you are thinking, it sounds like a trivial mashup but I thought Sputtr's simple approach and clean, aesthetically pleasing design were worth showcasing.
With Sputtr, you simply put in a search term then click an icon from the search options below the search box to be taken to results. Like I said, it is a clean and simple approach but so is Google and look where they are now.
